Spending Plan

What will it take to build the vehicle?  What do I plan to spend on which components?  How do I even calculate the costs when so much of the Vehicle will be custom built?

$$$$$$
Picture
First of all, how does one even make a budget for a project like this?  Contractors aren't used to working with these materials, and can't bid on the whole project. They need to be paid by the hour instead.  I'm hoping to get many materials and components donated instead of paying for them.  So what I'll do is post spending items here as I figure them out, and slowly build a component spending plan.

PHASE ONE
  • Advantage Trailers of Carol Stream, Illinois  built my aluminum gooseneck trailer. They will install the door, windows, a drop down porch and a series of built-in external access storage cubbies for everything from batteries to books and long term food storage.  It cost $58,000
  • They shipped it to Cambridge for $1900

PHASE TWO
In the second phase, the Community Builders Cooperative is building the interior.  This includes:
  • Insulation of walls, floors and ceiling.
  • Installation of metal interior walls.
  • Electrical wiring, switches and outlets.
  • Plumbing.
  • Installation of subfloor and floor
  • Construction and installation of counters, shelves, cabinets and drawers.
  • Construction of room walls.
  • Installation of kitchen sink..
  • Installation of a composting toilet.
  • Shower stall and shower installation.
  • Installation of appliances: dishwasher drawer, freezer, fridge.
  • Installation of light fixtures
  • Furniture

PHASE THREE
  • Buy a 3/4 ton pickup truck with a tow package and air bag suspension.
  • Buy an Automatic Safety Hitch for $13,000
  • Buy a Rand McNally RV GPS
  • Buy the equipment I need for nomadic internet and cell reception.
